Would you take a bus from West Chester to New York City? One company’s algorithm thinks you will. Tech startup OurBus, which has stops and routes throughout New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C., thinks West Chester is an underserved market for potential commuters.
The company constantly creates and adjusts routes based on commuter demand. They have their customers provide them with their home and work ZIP codes and then use an algorithm to create a direct service for people that live and work near each other.
For that reason, there might be several stops in Chester and Montgomery Counties, such as Malvern, King of Prussia, and Fort Washington, but typically the bus will run an express route to the Big Apple. Here is the pickup schedule for the area:
- West Chester, PA– Chestnut Street and High Street
- Malvern, PA – Matthews Road Park & Ride lot
- King of Prussia, PA – King of Prussia, PA Park & Ride lot
- Fort Washington, PA – Summit Avenue Cul-de-sac, next to SEPTA Station
Says founder Narinder Singh, “We’re filling a much needed gap in the Philadelphia suburbs, targeting travelers in Montgomery and Chester Counties, who often have limited transportation options to New York City and surrounding areas. With OurBus’s Main Line route, we’re offering our customers all of the comforts they need to relax during their trip or to be more productive.”
Buses will include free charging stations, free WiFi, free bottled water, clean bathrooms, and reclining seats. Riders are also able to track arrival and departure times.
With pricing starting at just $10, Ourbus certainly has our attention. Expect most prices to fall around $25.
